SMTP Settings

How to Find Your SMTP Settings

Gmail

  • Go to your Google Account → Security → 2-Step Verification
  • Generate an "App Password" (not your regular password)
  • Use: smtp.gmail.com, Port 587, TLS encryption
  • Username: Your full Gmail address
  • Password: The generated app password

Outlook/Hotmail

  • Go to Microsoft Account → Security → Advanced security options
  • Enable "App passwords" if 2FA is enabled
  • Use: smtp.office365.com, Port 587, STARTTLS encryption
  • Username: Your full Outlook email address
  • Password: Your account password or app password

Yahoo Mail

  • Go to Yahoo Account Security → Generate app password
  • Use: smtp.mail.yahoo.com, Port 465, SSL encryption
  • Username: Your Yahoo email address
  • Password: Generated app password

Zoho Mail

  • Go to Zoho Mail Settings → Mail Accounts → POP/IMAP Access
  • Enable "Less Secure App Access" or use App Password
  • Use: smtp.zoho.com, Port 587, TLS encryption
  • Username: Your Zoho email address
  • Password: Your account password or app password

Custom/Other Email Providers

  • Check your email provider's documentation or support page
  • Look for "SMTP settings", "Outgoing mail server", or "Mail client configuration"
  • Common ports: 587 (TLS), 465 (SSL), 25 (unencrypted - not recommended)
  • Contact your email provider's support if you can't find the settings

⚠️ Important Notes:

  • Many providers require app-specific passwords when 2FA is enabled
  • Some hosting providers block outbound SMTP connections - contact support if connection fails
  • If port 587 doesn't work, try port 465 with SSL encryption
  • Always test your connection before saving

Use InvoiceMe's default SMTP server (10 emails, 1 month trial)
